Its so hot in NYC now, hot and muggy.
Its at that point where you don't really want real food, you just want ice cream.
I have posted this recipe once before, but its been two years now, and its just so good, so Im doing a re-post.
It's the perfect pick me up on hot days like these.
Stay cool my friends.
Tiramisu ice cream
Serves 8
2,5 cups cream
2 cups milk
1 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise
8 large egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
14 ladyfingers
1/4 cup strong coffee
1/4 cup amaretto
1/2 cup good quality chocolate sauce
Put cream, milk and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
Heat until hot, but not boil.
Remove from heat and let stand for 30 minutes.
Put yolks, sugar and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until the mixture has tripled in size.
Reduce the speed and pour the milk slowly into it.
Transfer the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it is thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon.
Pour the mixture trough a mesh sieve into a bowl set in ice water bath.
Cool.
Freeze the mixture in an ice cream maker.
In the mean time, place the ladyfingers on a plate and drizzle with coffee and amaretto.
When the ice cream is ready, layer it in a bowl with ladyfingers and chocolate sauce.
Finish with a drizzle of the sauce.
Freeze until set and serve.

It does not have to be hot and muggy for me to want ice cream. I love to eat it any old time. I can not wait to try this recipe. My wife knows how to make ice cream really well but I do not think she has this recipe. I hope it taste as wonderful as it looks.

I am confused here. Is this a typo?? 2,5 cups cream?? Is it supposed to be 2.5 cups of cream or 2, and 5 cups of cream??? I would love to make this but I need clarification on the recipe please! TIA! Looks awesome!! My dd just had her first tiramisu and she is in love with the dessert, let alone be ice cream!!

In these tough times with bank interest rates being quite low, if there is one asset class that can give you better returns, it is the stock market.

This looks wonderful! I have the same question Oliviaswarden had about 2,5 cups. 2 cups in one step and 5 in the next or 2.5 cups?

It is advised to not drink and eat anything that will "stain your white shirt" 24-48 hours after your procedure.
