I have wanted to make a craft story about knitting for the longest time.
But there was always one big problem.
I can't knit!
So one day I was at H&M and they had all these amazing wool sweaters on sale, so I bought a big bag full of sweaters.
So with the help of my trusty hot glue gun I made a whole story about knitting crafts for all of us that can't knit.
To make this lampshade, cut a large sweater in half along the side seams.
Take off the sleeves, you can use those for something else.
Pull the material around the shade so the fabric meets in the back.
Cut to fit and hot glue in place.
Trim the edges and fold it over the shades edges and secure with a hot glue gun.
You now have a very unique and stylish shade.
Have a fab weekend all!

Mona

I've been wanting to cover some lampshades.. this is a cute and unique way! But... is it a fire hazard to cover it with such a thick material???

Lovely. I'm new to your blog and reveling in all the treats for the eye here!
Your project reminds me of a beautiful DIY project on Grey Likes Weddings: http://greylikesweddings.wordpress.com/2009/12/16/diy-wine-wrap/
Maybe that's what you can do with the sleeves!

simply amazing!

Seems like such a simple idea. I dont think it looks like a fire hazard since the opening to the lamp is so wide. I am curious to see how it looks once the light is turned on. Guess Ill have to just try it and see. Thank you.

What an awesome idea!! I can't knit and have no interest in it, but I love recycling things, and I will definitely try this with one of my wool sweaters.
Cheers for the great idea!
