This is a table setting I created for Country Living.
All christmas stories is usually produced in august and september, and I tell you getting in to the real christmas groove when its mega hot outside is not always easy.
But you know what, something happens to me when I get surrounded by ornaments, trees, ribbons and wrapped presents.
I can get a feeling of christmas in august. Even dressed in a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops.
Anyhow, this idea is really cute.
First of all, off to the forest to find a good branch.Needs to be almost as long as your table.
Then you knot lengths of twine around it and hang it from the ceiling from hooks.
At least 5-6 hooks.
Then you decorate with your finest ornaments.
You are now ready to party.

Beautiful way to display favorite ornaments! I did something like this with branches from backyard, but set them in a vase for our first "Christmas tree" in our house.

This is gorgeous. I'm guessing for 2009 Christmas its all about the hanging branch. Spookily one of my friends styled something similar for a shoot she did for Livingetc... I love this idea so much and seeing it again has enforced must find branch... Gorgeous blog xxx

I must tell you how happy this makes me. I keep a big branch in my bedroom - it fell from a tree several years ago. It stands upright, propped in a painted bucket and one of the limbs curves over in front of a mirror. The perfect thing to decorate through the year, or leave as is most of the time, but the best thing is that birds fly in through a window I leave open, and perch there. More than once I have surprised them sitting there - they are the best decoration of all. :)
Love this and love your blog. I don't even own a stove & have found little goodies here that I can make for Christmas. Thank you!

I love this idea...hanging it from the ceiling! Who would have thought (well, you obviously)!! This would totally compliment the tree I made for my dining room.

Unfortunately, all the good branches are presently under 20 inches of snow here on the east coast. I'll have to keep this in mind for next year. I love your blog! Thank you for all the inspiring ideas!

That's a lovely way to decorate the dining table for Christmas! It's as if Santa's been invited to dine! Nice post, Paul!
