I had a brief period in my life where I tried to live like one, didn't last very long.
But it did made me love clean lines and space, something that is hard to get in a small NY apartment.
Anyhow, this is really easy, all you need is:

String
One nail
Tape
Star

Start with hammering the nail to the wall.
Place it where you want the top of the tree to be.
Now tie 7 strings to the nail.
Tape the strings in a tree shape to your baseboard at the end of the wall.
Cover the nail with a star.
