"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...".
We all know this song.
But do you know how to prepare chestnuts?
No?
Well you are in luck my friend.
Sweet Paul will tell you how.
First of all the chestnuts need to be firm to the touch and heavy in hand.
Use a knife and make a cross in the skin, just deep enough to penetrate it.
I like to put mine in a roasting pan filled with coarse salt.
Roast them in the oven at 350F(180C) for about 35 minutes.
While they are hot, remove the skin and they are now ready to enjoy dipped in a little salt.

YUMM! I'm going to try to make these this weekend. Also that cute little idea...making a Christmas tree out of cupcake cups and glitter...TOO CUTE.

Thank you for this!!! I live in CH so I can get roasted chestnuts whenever I desire during Fall/Winter, but I always return to the states for Christmas and would love to have my family try them!

I love roasted chestnuts. We've traveled to Germany and Italy before in the winter and you can buy them on the streets in paper bags. Even if you don't like them, holding the warm bags in your hands is nice!

When I was in Australia they actually had chestnut carts on the street, selling a bag of little roasted ones! It was so 'christmas carol'!
Love this, I shall make some just for nostalgic purposes and because they are good!
