Country Living asked me to come up with a fun pumpkin idea for their halloween issue thats out now.
I wanted something that looked like a Lite-Brite.
I just came up with the idea, the styling was done by Matthew Mead and his assistant made the pumpkin.
Cut your pumpkin around the stem, remove the top and scoop out the pulp.
Make a crescent moon with an awl. Push the outline of the design through the pumpkin's flesh.
Fit each hole with a bulb from a set of battery-powered string lights.
Put the top back and you are ready to go.

I'm not really into Halloween, but I like your lite-brite idea on the pumpkin. Brought back childhood memories.

Adorable! I've done this with multi-colored Lite Brite pieces. So much fun! I like Halloween because it's a nice reminder for adults to never let go of their fun side.

Hi Paul, I'm sure you just overlooked this... the pumpkin was executed by my assistant Lisa Renauld and styled by me... Matthew Mead. Happy Halloween.
