We are engaged!

Great news, Otis and myself are now engaged.

A little back story!
Otis and myself met in person for the first time at the International Arrival terminal at Newark Airport.
He was hiding behind this big column .
So that column was from that day a special place for us.

Back to Friday!
We where at Newark airport for our trip to Atlanta.
We had checked in and he told me that we needed to go down stair to Arrival because his brother ( that was traveling with us) had a bag emergency.
We where running threw the arrival hall to find them, I was really stressed, and may I add a bit grumpy.
All of a sudden I heard Otis call out my name, I turn around and he was kneeling down and holding a blue box open with a ring inside.
The picture bellow is from that exact moment!

The famous words followed, I said YES ( of course).
Totally confused, did not se that coming.
He put a wonderful ring on my finger, a ring he designed himself. And in the middle of the ring is a huge diamond that used to belong to his Grandmother Pearl.
We are talking serious bling!

And behind another column his brother was hiding and taking pictures of the whole thing.

I must be the most lucky man in the world to have such a romantic and thoughtful man by my side.
I mean, this man have been planning this for weeks.
Thought he had been acting a bit strange latterly, well now I know why.

We now have a wedding to plan, that will be so much fun and I will totally turn in to the biggest bridezilla the world has ever seen.
Not really. It will be a fun but low key thing…….
More info on that will follow soon.

Big hugs from Paul, who is still on a cloud!

There is nothing better then leaving the studio after a good day shooting, it makes me feel very good.
I did the food, recipes and props for this one. Love doing it all.
And love beets.

Polenta bread

Polenta can be used for many things, not just the creamy kind.
This bread has a great taste of corn and a wonderful smell of thyme.
Tastes so good with butter and some good cheese.

Polenta bread with thyme and pine nuts
Makes one 9 by 5 inch loaf

1 1/2 stick unsalted butter, softened, plus more for pan
1/3 cup plain flour, plus more for pan
3/4 cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon chopped thyme leaves, plus some springs for topping
1 cup fine yellow cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons pine nuts

Preheat oven to 325F.
Butter a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan.
Dust with flour.
Put butter and sugar in a bowl of a mixer.
Mix on medium speed until pale and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Mix in thyme.
Add flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt and mix well.
Pour batter into prepared pan.
Sprinkle with thyme and pine nuts.
Bake until a cake tester comes out clean, 45-50 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack.
This bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Beauty still life

This is a still life of beauty products I shot with Ellen Silverman for Luxury Spa Finder Magazine.
I don't know what it is with the whole white on white thing with me, but I have always loved it.
Maybe my childhoods winter days?
Who knows!

Trout

Back from Alaska.
Had a great time, did not se to much of Alaska as we did not get off the ship.
But what I saw from the windows was amazing.
Such nature!
I really want to go again.
We had a great shoot, such a fun team.
Lots of laughs.

I thought these trout pictures was a good posting after Alaska.
This is from a shoot I did with Colin Cooke.
I did the food and Phyllis Asher did the props.

Off to Alaska

Going to Alaska has always been a dream of mine.
A bit strange since I come from Norway and much of the nature looks very much the same.
But in my head I think its very different.Could be wrong, could be right!
Anyway, sunday Im heading to Alaska to do a job for Celebrity Cruises with my good friend Frances.
It will be so much fun.
So no blogging for me next week.
Take care and talk soon again!

A bucket of flowers

This is from a story I did for Country Living.
You can se the whole story in the july issue.
The whole idea was what you can make with a bucket of flowers.
Summer time is a great time to by flowers by the buckets, not to expensive.

Some more Ramps

Ramps are still in season, its getting fewer of them at the market.
But you can still get them.
They are amazing in any food with their taste between garlic and scallions.
