This will be the last doilie post for a while.
I'm all doilied out!
Someone asked me why I'm so into old textiles.
I guess it has to do with my childhood. My mother collects and deals in old folk costumes back in Norway, and I got to love and respect the work and time that went into these textiles.
For me the doilies and other scraps of vintage fabrics are a pice of history.
And by using these doilies and putting then into a new context, I feel that the history goes on.
So doilies of the world....UNITE!
( Don't forget to leave a post for the doilie jacket give away, the draw is tomorrow morning)

I have loved all of your doily posts - thank you!

You do realise that thanks to your brilliant ideas there is now going to be a worldwide shortage of doilies...

I love the doilie! I just bought a bunch off of ebay and put one on a sweater (you can see it on my blog.) I bought some fabric stiffener recently with the idea of making bowls out of them, not sure how they would turn out. Then I found your blog yesterday and I'm convinced that I have to make them!
Keep the doilie love coming :)

OMG...I'm am not a doilie person...I live in NYC for heavan sakes...but, I think you have turned me into a grandma...the way you styled the photos make the doilie look so modern. Who knew?...I crochet and I'm running out to the craft store to buy thread to make my first doilie...OMG, I hope this is not my downward spiral into old age...lol.

I have had great fun viewing your dollies and the creations. My mother has quanties of these that my grandmothers made. They never had 'idle hands'. I will look them out when I'm home next. Yours appear to be white. Most of ours will be in a colour my mother calls ecru. Not so easy to work with as white.
